Introducing Opinion Alpha

Finance influencers publish a lot of stock opinions. A single video can mention a dozen tickers, some as firm buys, some as "I'd wait for a pullback", some only in passing. Weeks later it is hard to remember who said what, and harder still to see how those calls played out.

Opinion Alpha turns that stream into something you can look up. We follow a set of finance influencers on YouTube and X, extract every stock opinion from their public videos and posts, and track each one against the market.

From a video to an opinion

Every new video is transcribed and every post is read. From each one we extract the stock opinions it contains:

  • The ticker, including non-US listings such as Hong Kong and Shanghai.
  • The direction: bullish or bearish.
  • The horizon: short, medium or long term.
  • How firm it is: an explicit call, a leaning, or a conditional view ("if it breaks 200…").
  • The quote, in the influencer's own words, with a link to the exact source and, for videos, the moment it was said.

Extraction is automatic and reviewed, and it can still be wrong. That is why every opinion links back to its source, so you can always check the original context, and why you can report one that looks off.

What you can do with it

Look up a stock. A stock page shows the price chart with every influencer call marked on it, the bullish/bearish split, the latest opinions with their quotes, and which influencers have called that stock best so far.

Look up an influencer. An influencer page collects all of their stock opinions in one place, with their simulated performance: return, excess return over the S&P 500 (SPY), win rate, drawdown, current holdings, and their best and worst calls.

Follow the day. The opinions feed lists new calls as they come in, with filters for direction, platform and time period, and a daily summary of the most-discussed stocks.

Compare. The leaderboard ranks influencers by the simulated result of following their calls, over periods from one week to two years.

Share. Any day, stock or single opinion can become a share image for X, Xiaohongshu or a group chat, linked back to the full picture.

How performance is simulated

Influencers don't publish their real trades, so we don't claim to know them. Instead we ask a simpler question: what would have happened if you had followed their public calls?

Each opinion becomes a position on the next US trading day after it was published and is typically held for about three months. There are three ways to follow:

  • Weighted long-only (WLO): hold the stocks they are bullish on, weighted by how often they mention them.
  • Long-only (LO): hold every bullish call equally.
  • Long-short (LS): also short the stocks they are bearish on.

Results are always compared with SPY. They are simulations of following public content, not anyone's real account, holdings or returns, and they are not investment advice.

English and Chinese

Opinion Alpha covers both English- and Chinese-language influencers, and the whole site is available in both languages. Switch at the bottom of any page.

Free and Pro

Without an account you can browse the leaderboard, influencer summaries and each stock's latest opinions. A free account opens the full picture: all rankings and metrics, performance curves, holdings, win rates, the full feed with its filters, and opinions from the last three months. Pro adds the complete opinion history and the longer simulation periods.
